The Building Research Institute is authorised to issue European Technical Assessments for construction products used in general construction within the scope of the following product areas:

Product area according to Annexe IV, Table 1 to the Regulation No 305/2011

1) Area code according to Annexe IV, Table 1 to the Regulation (EU) No 305/2011 of the European Parliament and of the Council of 9 March 2011 laying down harmonised conditions for the marketing of construction products and repealing Council Directive 89/106/EEC

From the 1st July 2013, according to European Parliament and EU Council Regulation No 305/2011 of the 9th March 2011 which lays down the harmonized conditions for the marketing of construction products and repeals Council Directive 89/106/EEC, European Technical Assessments are issued instead of European Technical Approvals.

Pursuant to Article 66 section 4 of the above Regulation, the manufacturers and importers may use the European Technical Approvals granted in accordance with Article 9 of the Directive 89/106/EEC before 1st July 2013 as the European Technical Assessments until the lapse of validity of those approvals.

The European Technical Assessments are voluntary documents without time limit and are issued for the following products:

  • not covered by the harmonised European standard (hEN)
  • not fully covered by the harmonised European standard, i.e. in the case when performance of the product in relation to its fundamental characteristics cannot be fully assessed according to hEN (assessment method in relation to at least one fundamental characteristic is not suitable or does not exist).

The European Technical Assessments are reference documents for placing these products with CE marking on the common European market after assessment and verification of constancy of performances and drawing up a declaration of performance by the producer.
